According to different forms of burial, Secondary Joint Burial can be divided into two categories: one is constituted by only one grave, the other is constituted by two or more graves. Then, according to different forms of human skeletons which lie in the graves, Secondary Joint Burial can be divided into four categories: Straight limb-like, piled up and dislocated, piled up concentrated neatly, stacked in disarray, coffin burial urn. Secondary Joint Burial which constituted by one grave has five forms of human skeletons; Secondary Joint Burial which constituted by two or more graves has four forms of human skeletons. Through the stratigraphic relations and comparison with the unearthed artifacts, it is reasonable to determine the relative date of every type of burials, combing out the evolution sequence of Secondary Joint Burial. Based on the characteristics and the evolution of the secondary Joint Burial, the thesis further explores the evolution and social background of the Secondary Joint Burial. Comparing the burial grounds which contain Secondary Joint Burial, we find out several structural types: In the early stages of Yangshao culture, burial grounds are divided into two or more sections. Each section includes several graves-clusters or multiple burials. The three levels of the burial ground structure reflects three levels of the social organization——tribe, clan and family group. The structure of Shijia Burial ground, later period Phase II of Jiangzhai burial ground, later period Phase II of Xia wanggang Burial ground have prominent features :Lots of Secondary Joint Burials and compressed burials have no zoning. Three levels of the burial ground structure are changed into two levels: Secondary Joint Burial and burial ground. At last, even a Secondary Joint Burial equals to the burialground. With the development of Secondary Joint Burial, the structures of burial grounds are becoming looser and looser. The development of Secondary Joint Burial, which reflects the whole process that family group originated from clan have developed and grown, replacing the clan completely at last. The discussion of related issues discusses and expounds the origin and dissemination of Secondary Joint Burial and explores the emergence and role of the second-tier platform. In addition, the last part distinguishes the burial customs, such as body cutting, prone burial, disarranged human skeletons and so forth.
