Comparison And Research On The Beijing Spoken Language Textbook "Collection Of Language Zier" Of The Mid-19th Century And Modern Spoken Language Textbook

The "collection of language zier" that can teach Beijing spoken language is the first Chinese textbook in Chinese teaching history written by British people Wadema in the mid-19th century. Because our country have not valued the impact of west Sinologist over Chinese linguistics for a long time, it brought about a few wrong opinion and didn't have the accurate allocation and the science valuation neither ablut the "collection of language zier". This article will compare the "collection of language zier" wity the modern Chinese spoken language textbook, make every efforts to show the relation of the Beijing spoken language in the middle 19th century and modern Chinese spoken language by using the three aspects such as phonetics , grammars and Bushou.Firstly, phonetics: the mandarin in the "collection of language zier" is basically equal to today'Putonghua, even though there are 27 initials in the books,the initial system is the same with Putonghua when the six initials "tz,tz',ssn ng^ y^ w"are excluded Compared with the 39 finals of Putonghua, the 40 finals include "io> uo> ia",but not the "ueng". Sihu and finals are almost the same categories. The tones, phonetic changes and the jogged disciplines of the syllables are basically the same with Putonghua.Secondly, the word class and grammar in the book have established the theory rudiments of the modern Chinese, and begun to explain the history about the grammar of spoken Chinese by using the western depictive linguistics. The spoken vocabularys of Beijing dialect in the late Qing dynasty have been well preserved.Tirdly, the main points of the book was to tell people how to look up the Chinese words by using Bushou which is the same thoughts with the dictionaries in the mordern times. But the book had the historic limitations because it was entirely compiled according to the Kangxi dictionary.This issue adopts the method of comparing, depicting and integrating the quantitative study and qualitative investigation. According to the research, we will have more applied values and social efficiencies in studying the Pekingese, putonghua, Chinese spoken language history and Chinese spoken language, vocabulary , grammar and so on. Besides, it will have certain help to us to recognize and comb the teaching history of the foreign Chinese by means of study. With the deep into study about the Wadema and the "collection of language zier", I think the history documents the days to come may be have a scientific evaluation and academic position to them.
