An Exotic Perspective

This paper aims to do completely analysis on three aspects followed with the standpoint of comparative poetics and cultural relativism, taking Stephen Owen's researches on the Chinese literature theory as a case. Owen's view of explanation combined with the background and works influencing the author's evaluation; the Critical Viewpoint of "thought moving in the text" and the critical approaches of close reading, cultural restoration and historical imagination, and on interpretation in both Chinese and western standpoints as well; the key point of the explanation on terms and style. At last, the paper evaluates Owen's Chinese literature theory researches entirely and objectively in order to provide an exotic perspective to the researchers on Chinese literature theory.
