This dissertation is devoted to discovering the possibilities of utilizing multimedia computer as an instructional tool in Senior English writing teaching to improve students' writing with the help of this tool applied in this study. The English Writing course in middle schools has always been the most important and difficult in English teaching. Though both teachers and students have spent much time, made great efforts, the effects are far from being satisfactory. With the wide applications of multimedia in modern education, more and more educators are trying to apply modern education skills to English teaching to improve the teaching results.Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) is a new trend in foreign language teaching . Web Assisted Language Learning (WALL) has appeared. In the process of the development of information technology in foreign language teaching, CALL and WALL will make a significant change in high school English teaching. This change in the teaching of English in all aspects, namely, listening, speaking, reading, writing, are tremendous and profound .Modern learning theories, such as constructivist learning, cognitive structure theory, Humanistic learning theory, interactive & cooperative learning, and autonomous learning, all underlie the application of the multimedia computer in English learning especially writing.With reference to the findings of the relative experts' research at home and abroad, I introduce the multimedia computer into Senior English Writing as an auxiliary teaching method. And I has explored a multi-media environment under the conventional classroom teaching writing mode and tasks/activities teaching writing mode. The application results are examined by using the methods of teaching experiments, questionnaires, examinations, and etc.The analysis of questionnaires, end-of-term examination papers and teacher-and-student forum show that the multimedia computer applied in Senior English Writing teaching can remedy the deficiency of the traditional teaching methods, and especially can create better studying atmosphere among students during the process of English writing teaching. Also, as it in turn stimulates the enthusiasm of the students , students can improve their English writing and gain significant results. However, all the studies in this essay also show that there are still some limitations of the multimedia computer application in high school English writing at present. Such as technical, financial, time and plagiaristic problem .Engaging in the multimedia computer application of English writing is a continuing challenge that requires time and commitment. The multimedia computer will never substitute teacher's role but they offer new opportunities for better language practice. The investigation conducted in the dissertation is a representative for some of the ordinary high schools. They may actually make the process of English writing significantly richer and play a key role in the reform of a country's educational system. Though in some sense this research of the multimedia computer application for addressing students' writing is premature, it points toward a possibly fruitful direction for other practitioners to explore.
