With the development of China's economy and the tendency of globalization, attracting foreign investment and resources to promote the economy has become an important policy of Chinese government. At present, investment-inviting texts like general description and project description are often found on governmental websites. The former is the general introduction to the project location, while the latter concerns more about one specific project. These two texts are the target materials of the present study.Pragmatic translation studies have enjoyed great development in China; the translating of investment-inviting texts has not drawn wide attention, though. In the present study, fresh attempts are made to conduct analysis of investment-inviting texts, in hopes of summarizing the features of investment-inviting texts and proposing some strategies for translating such texts.Text typology theory and value-based information theory are adopted in the present thesis, for the purpose of figuring out text typology, functions and information types of investment-inviting texts. Information-highlighting principle and principle of economic conciseness are integrated with five supportive norms to conduct qualitative analysis of the current translations of investment-inviting texts and some suggestions are made for better translation meanwhile. After the overall analysis, the present thesis makes some discoveries: 1) investment-inviting texts perform both informative and vocative functions.2) the texts mainly consist of five types of information: factive, descriptive, evaluative, cultural and vocative, in which factive information is the most important. 3) Information-highlighting principle and principle of economic conciseness are helpful to achieve concise and effective translation of investment-inviting texts. It is hoped that the current study can devote certain share to the pragmatic translation of China and shed light on the writing and translation of investment-inviting texts.
