Vocabulary accumulation is the most basic and most important part in foreign language learning. Therefore, teachers must attach great importance to vocabulary teaching. To help the students remember all the words effectively, this paper, based on task-based teaching theories, puts forward task-based vocabulary teaching strategy to explore into how to teach English words more effectively. In this paper, the author has proposed seven kinds of task-based vocabulary teaching designs. All of the designs are aimed to improve the efficiency of the students' learning process, to improve teaching methods in an English vocabulary teaching class, as well as to strengthen the students' ability to use the English language freely. Task-based vocabulary teaching is designed to require the students to complete certain tasks individually or in pairs or in groups in certain situations, and encourage them to cooperate while fulfilling certain tasks. During the completion of these tasks, the students are experiencing a real language situation, and they are able to remember, master and even expand their vocabulary by doing things and using the language to communicate with others in English, thus developing their independence, cooperation and innovation".
