| This paper uses the experimental phonetics method to investigate Thai Students' phonetic acquisition of Mandarin disyllabic neutral tone words with different focus information in sentences,and to provide some suggestions about how to teach it.The recording object contains Thai students and Chinese students.The experimental results of Chinese students indicated that,(1)the tone type of previous syllable will affect the pitch of the later neutral tone word.(2)the focus information has a significant effect on the pitch and duration of the disyllabic neutral tone words,when it on the focus condition,it's maximum f0 will rise and it's pitch scope will expand,in the meantime,the duration of it will extent,and the increase in duration of previous syllable was greater than that of later neutral tone words.The experimental results of Thai students indicated that,(1)there are pitch errors in the disyllabic neutral tone words of Thai students,and the pitch errors include the error of pitch pattern,the error of pitch value and the error of pitch scope.The main error of pitch pattern includes falling-rising error,falling error and level error.The error rate of group “the second tone + neutral tone” is maximal while the error rate of group “the fourth tone + neutral tone” is minimal.(2)there are duration errors in the disyllabic neutral tone words of Thai students:the duration of the later neutral tone word is longer than the duration of the previous non-neutral syllable.(3)Thai students can not presenting focus information which carried by the disyllabic neutral tone words.The causes of Thai students' errors are mainly from the negative transfer of mother tongue and the generalization of the target language rules.In the teaching of neutral tone words for Thai students,it is necessary to pay attention to correcting the pitch and duration errors of it in the early stage.In the latter stage,it is necessary to help the students to express the focus information carried by the neutral tone words. |
