Notes To Words Of Yangyuan Dialect In Hebei Province

Expatiation of contemporary Chinese words has some similar aspects with the studying of ancient words' development and evolution. Especially when we examine some words still used in some dialects of today, we always can find some tracks of them in modern,medieaval,even ancient Chinese. The paper expatiates 45 ancient words found still in use in Yangyuan dialect, 27 of which derive from modern times, 11 from medieaval times, 7 from ancient times. And from it we also can see the clue or process modern words have undergone in the whole development of Chinese, from a few to many , from oral to literal. The paper has two parts. The first presents the definition of Yangyuan dialect, the historical and contemporary studying about it, and the magnificance of writing it. The second puts the Yangyuan oral words and literal words from ancient Chinese together, verifying them conforming to each other, some of which are accompanied with examples from contemporary literature. So the paper is not only expatiation and retrospection for dialect words, but also suppies the ancient words with testimonies in dialect. In these words, 11 have not been included or presented in Chinese Big Dictionary, 7 meaningful particles are omitted or losed in CBD, 4 words' literal testimonies are discovered earier than those in CBD, and 1 rectifies the mispresentation for "face" in CBD.This article according to Chinese phonetic alphabet order arrangement, each entry arranges in order word item first, and adds the pronunciation by Chinese phonetic alphabet to what pronounce apparently defferent from those in standard Chinese. Then detailedly depicts its meaning and utility in Yangyuan dialect, enumerates the presentative book cards and makes the essential analysis and elaboration. The book cards include almost every style of classical literature. Thus, we can unify the live dialect words and exppressions with the dead examples from classical literature, mutually for verifying.The paper is the research about development and evolution of Chinese vocabulary from the point of view of dialect. And it is a union of Chinese dialect words and classical literature words. I hope it can provide useful materials for the construction of history of Chinese vocabulary.
