Buddhist art is the result of the integration of Buddhist and Secular arts, it is mainly composed of a painting, sculpture and other forms. Chinese Buddhist art is from India, in the long course of development, it formed with Chinese national characteristics and colorful Buddhist art forms, and greatly enriched the traditional Chinese art. Since ancient times, there are a lot of the creative artists practiced, keeping absorbing the essence of traditional Chinese Buddhist art, learning experiences and formed their own painting style. Chinese Buddhist art is endless magic charm, and is an inexhaustible source of creative painting. This paper reviews the traditional Chinese Buddhist paintings, Buddhist sculptures, Buddhist painting and modern art development, integrating the Buddhist themes of series of works, gave out basic conditions in the creation of modern Buddhist painting, summing up the significances of creation of contemporary Buddhist painting. The article reflects on the nature of the Chinese Buddhist art, and analyzing the relationships between Chinese Buddhist art and modern Buddhist painting, through the analysis of the creation of experience of Buddhist art, discussing the ways of creation of the modern Buddhist painting, and to enrich the styles of modern artistic painting.
