Tang Dynasty is the heyday of Chinese Calligraphy.In the Tang Dynasty, various Chinese calligraphy styles such as seal.character,clerical script,regular script,running script and cursive hand thrived and prospered,and a number of famous calligraphers appeared.Unprecedented achievements in Chinese calligraphy were made in this dynasty.Tracing back,we will find in the early and middle Tang Dynasty,many calligraphers were neck and neck,while in the later Tang Dynasty, Liu Gongquan outshone all the other calligraphers.The Liu regular script created by Liu Gognquan has both the merits of other calligraphy styles and its own unique characteristic,his regular script,together with Yan Zhenqing's calligraphy style,are praised as "Yah Liu" and they become learning model of generations.In modern days,anyone who knows a little about calligraphy knows Liu calligraphy,which is modle for almost all calligraphy learners.What's worth learning more is his moral quality,which immerses in his regular script.Both of his moral quality and his calligraphy style reflect Confucian spirit.To study Liu Gongquan's calligraphy and understand his calligraphic idea from a historical view can broaden learners' horizon and enhance their interest.
