Enter into 21st century, multimedia technology and network technology as the core information technologies are at an alarming rate into all areas of education. In particular multimedia technology is into the English classroom teaching of universities. As the manifestations of illustrations and pictures, superior audio and video, static and dynamic, it makes multimedia in the field of education has become a hot current English teaching reform. Education has entered the industrial and information age. It can be said, multimedia technology will change the English teaching model, teaching content, teaching methods, even cause the entire idea of education, teaching theory and the fundamental transformation of education system. Eventually it achieves the English teaching optimization of universities.Therefore, this thesis aims at the investigation and analysis on the using of multimedia in the English classroom teaching of Changchun University, trying to describe multimedia technology and its characteristics, discussing in depth English classroom teaching optimization problem under multimedia environment.This thesis takes Changchun University as an example and concentrates on the multimedia promoting the college English classroom teaching optimization. Firstly, it discusses the optimization theory. Secondly, it summarizes the status quo of English teaching with multimedia in Changchun University. And through questionnaires, statistical data and other methods to do in-depth investigations and studies. To analyze the significance and the drawbacks of the using multimedia in the English classroom teaching. Finally, bases on the above analysis, this thesis emphases on strategy study of using of multimedia to promote the English teaching optimization of universitiesIn short, the implementation of multimedia English classroom teaching is the key to optimization. Appropriate use of multimedia teaching will also become the inevitable trend of development in the future, which need every educated workers in front of teaching to analyze of multi-media teaching problems, sum up the experience of multi-media teaching, explore new ways of multi-media teaching, multimedia teaching will be better to promote English classroom teaching optimization, and better services for the education and teaching.
