This thesis aims at evaluating the influence upon simultaneous interpretation exerted by family of languages based on an elaborated description of the theory of sense. Chapter One provides a general introduction of the thesis. Chapter Two is devoted to a systematic introduction of simultaneous interpretation, with its characteristics and phases included. Chapter Three provides for a comprehensive review of the initiation, development and major viewpoints of the theory of sense. Chapter Four goes to the concept of family of languages. Via the analyses of the features of Indo-European and Sino-Tibetan families of languages, parameters for lexical correspondence, structural changes and deverbalization are respectively set up. Chapter Five describes procedures of the experiment and the author's hypothesis, and by means of analyzing corpora, a tentative conclusion can be reached in Chapter Six.
