Terry Eagleton is a famous Western Marxist theorist,who had significant influence to the world and China's theorist.Terry Eagleton is working-class background,he is full of enthusiasm to political struggle of reality and attention to man and woman who are under the oppression.His theory is always around politics, ideology,and finally this concept to human liberation of this great goal.This thesis through analyzing the theory of Terry Eagleton's main concepts and ideas,such as: "ideology","politics","literature is the ideology of production","literary criticism with politics" to discuss his literary theory,and the theory of real life.The thesis is divided into three chapters.Prologue part briefly introduces his born and his thoughts,ideas of development,reflected Eagleton as public intellectuals of the attention to real political struggle.The first chapter emphasis discusses the change of "ideology",previous ideology theory to Terry Eagleton's influence,and he formed the unique concept of the ideological on this basis.Through expounded Eagletion's unique ideological theory can see he enriched the ideological concepts,developed the theory of ideology,for the further understanding of his literary theory lays the foundation.Therefore,in the second chapter discusses in detail the "literature is the ideology of production" this view.From the relationship between literature and ideology,and the relationship between literature and production,to elaborate how the ideology and literature it is as a commodity production to combine together.In Terry Eagleton's opinion,literature is a kind of social production,is also a kind of ideology, this is the mutual infiltration and intertwined harmoniously.This will avoid or get rid of "abundant aesthetic form",or to empty pure form,also deconstructed the traditional "reflection" and "performance" between the theory.In the third chapter focuses on the Terry Eagleton's literary criticism theory.Terry Eagleton not only admits literature is part of the ideology but also literary criticism,consciously or not consciously with politics.This chapter basically from literary criticism is a judgment of value;the object of literary criticism is the ideology of production;the purpose of literary criticism is political and the marxist literary criticism should eventually to human liberation to discuss.Explain clearly:Terry Eagleton's concept of "political" is different from general understanding of people understand the route and policy,but social organizations and involve the power relations;Terry Eagleton's emphasis on political literary criticism is to warn people realize literary criticism and politics natural connection,don't let it quietly become bourgeois ideology of stealth.Marxist literary criticism(scientific literary criticism) should consciously reflects the political, for change the oppression of the men and women living condition,finally realizes the humanity to spread the liberation struggle.All this theory,as a public intellectuals of Terry Eagleton's deep speech.In the section,I compactly reviewed Terry Eagleton's literary theory and the reality.
