Analysis Of Eagleton's Literary Ideology Theory

The critical concepts and methods of Terry Eagleton,the literary criticism theoretician of England have profound humane significance in “critical century”.This article takes the basic idea that literature ideology is a kind of ideology as the basis,regarding the relationship between them as the clue,by means of ideology and the practical mode of political criticism,to establish the intervention between the criticism and political reality,to search literary criticism how to explore the liberation revolutionary force,and to accomplish political rebuilding in the postmodern context,what's more,to find the alarming theoretical significance and academic value on our development of literary criticism.This dissertation is composed of three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.The introduction includes three sections.The first section is about the purpose and significance of this article;The second section is to analysis current conditions of study to Eagleton at home and abroad,and to know different scholars' different views on his theory,by which we can study him from all aspects;The third section is about research methods and innovation of this article.The text includes four chapters.Chapter one begins with phylogeny of ideological theory,and the Eagleton's elaborate strategic understanding on it.The first section is to trace the evolutionary process of concept of ideology,from Tracy to Marx,aiming to introduce the “change” of previous ideology's influence on Eagleton;The second section,I give a sketch for experience and scholarly road of Eagleton,and make a demarcation for the whole theory of ideology of Eagleton,which he reinterprets critically,in addition,explain the composed of multiple construction how to be a strong tool of political criticism;The third section is about the connotation of his,from the perspective of epistemological and social function to analysis practical function of ideology.Chapter two: introducing Eagleton's theory of literary ideology.Section one,starting with literature text and coring in “the production of ideology”,endeavors to construct dynamic construction between literature and ideology;Section two analyses the function and strategy of the “the revolutionary political criticism”,faced with the new historical circumstances;Section three,analyzing the political explanation to the aesthetic ideology of Terry Eagleton,attempts to find the tension relationship between aesthetic ideology and political criticism and find “body” as the revolutionary intermediary force.Chapter three: in the late 90 s,he turns to the culture criticism,and this chapter is to find a resolved measure of Marxism for the political problems of postmodern culture.Section one introduces what is postmodernism;Section two is to introduce the contradictory of the concept of culture;Section three discusses the aim of political rebuilding of theory in face of postmodernism is to realize human liberation.Chapter four: it concludes the theory of Eagleton,and finds the forging influence on the Chinese Marxist literary theory and ideology construction.Section one summarizes his theoretical development and contribution;Section two explains the revelation of his ideological theory on our ideology construction;In section three,it discourse the enlightenment for ours in our theoretica l circle,and make us know the task of the critic and how to do it.The summary: it tells us briefly that the literary needs critique,and my understanding about the critical spirit of the intellectuals and persisting in it.
