A Study On The Grammaticalized Motivation And Mechanism Of Chinese Directional Verb "Qilai"

The study of grammaticalization of the directional verb "qilai" is not only one of the key issues but also a hot point in the field of Chinese research.The previous study always emphasized particularly on the synchronic research and diachronic research of "qilai",but shorted of the study of motivation and mechanism of grammaticalization of "qilai".Based on the abundant materials of language,paying equal attention to synchronic research and diachronic research,the paper studies the motivation and mechanism of grammaticalization through the development on synchronic and diachronic research of "qilai".The paper contains five parts:the first part is perface to formulate the previous progress and bring forward the thesis aimed at the shortage of the previous research besides the interpretion of the key concepts of the paper.Based on the synchronic point,the second part interprets the characteristics of "qilai " in different periods,and describes the extended meanings,distribution and function of "qilai" on diachronic way.The most important part of the paper are the third and fourth part,on the basis of the progress from above parts,the paper discusses the motivation of grammaticalization of "qilai" from five aspects and gains the five mechanisms of grammaticalization of "qilai".The last part is the conclusion to sum up the progress of the paper.
