Research On Translation Competence And Translation Teaching

The thesis is a study of translation competence and translation training and teaching. It will focus on what translation competence is; what sub-components of translation competence are; what problems exist in different translators' translation competence and how to train translators' translation competence. The analysis of differences of translators' transfer competence aims to recommend a proper way from investigation to develop it in the future training.To conduct the study, a review of the previous researches of translation competence is done, which is based on PACTE model of translation competence. The conclusion is about recent researches of translation competence. It includes the research of translation competence in three fields. Through these analysis, the thesis tries to clear out the different sub-components of translation competence, as well as what sub-components are, and how to define translation competence which is based on the communicative view of translation, the cognitive view of translation and PACTE model of translation competence.Then it will do an investigation about different versions of the same texts from juniors, of English majors. In the investigation, it will prove existence of differences of competence and then find out the weakness and problems of students in translation competence. The design of the texts is based on the structure and contents of PACTE model of translation competence. At last, the analysis of collected data shows the problems of students' translation competence and how to improve it. Based on investigation results, it will conclude a proper way for translation teaching in various aspects at last. In this way, trainees can get special practices step by step according to their needs and shortages. Their improvements of translation competence are sure to realize.
