The third part of the content, namely the Translation task“Beverly Adab Evaluating Translation Competence”. This chapter combines the studies of translation competence assessment. According to Peter newmark’s text typology and the corresponding translation methods, we can refer that this book belongs to the domain of social sciences, namely the information class text primarily, also the characteristics of expressive texts. The author uses the words accurately, and use the long and complicated structures, and the form are more diverse; Besides, the work has strong professional background and contains a large number of background knowledge in the field of history. Strive to fidelity and accuracy of the translation task, according to functional equivalence theory, the use of literal translation is given priority to, free translation is used as the complementary translation method so as to achieve the functional equivalence in lexical, syntactic and textual aspects. This translation practice report consists of five parts, the first part is a macro introduction about this translation task, which introduces the translation task and the stylist features, which make the readers better grasp the central idea of the translation practice report. Then it comes to the second part, which mainly introduces the process of translation and preparations for the translation task, and the translation preparations including reading text, the selection of translation tools, and the translation processmainly refers to the process of analysis, expression and review. The third part mainly talks about the theoretical basis of the translation practice report, including the translation theory and strategy. As for theory of translation, the translation practice report mainly adopts the text typology, the text is divided into the informational text, expressive text, and vocative text, according to the different characteristics of text, different methods and strategies are adopted. Besides, the Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory is also used, namely use the most appropriate, natural and equivalent language style to reproduce the source language information. With the combination of theory and practice, it will make the translation practice report content more rich and credible.
