The Narration Of Color

As a form of Aesthetic modality, the color of film is one of the elements of composing the Motion Picture Arts, and the leader of "the fifth generation director" Zhang Yimou is good at use colors to create a fantastic cancion. The colors of his films not only gives the audience a strong visual enjoyment but also gives his films an unparalleled artistic and aesthetic temperament, greatly enriched the aesthetics tension and performance connotations of his films.Based on the study of Zhang Yimou's film color, from the perspective of film aesthetics, this paper first of all gives a basic introduction of the meaning, emotion and symbol of color, expatiating the relationship between the film and color; then analyses and concludes the color narrative language, the characteristics and status of color of Zhang Yimou's film by use the analytic demonstration method, and proposed the contemporary thinking of the color use. Finally, concluded: color is the most vivid and most profound visual language of Zhang Yimou's film, is the gorgeous coats of the film putting on by Zhang Yimou, but most of all it's the life of his film. Through study the color of Zhang Yimou's film, enhancing the appreciation ability of visual beauty, contribute to the understanding of the film's visual effects and the performance and functions of color, thereby strengthening the understanding and use of film's color, so as to bring more watchable value and marketing value to Chinese films.
