On the foundation of collecting and studying the materials, the article adopts the theory and method of contrastive linguistics to analyse the preposition and prepositional phrases of Zhuang language and Thai language, elaborate the differences and probe the causes. Preposition of Zhuang language and Thai language is an important class of empty in their respective grammar system. This kind of preposition is lack of lexical meaning and is used to express grammatical meaning. In the syntactic function and semantic function, they represent prepositional and marked function. In class, they are all divided into six, which mean time, place, direction, way, basis, object, cause, purpose and comparison respectively. The greatest difference between Zhuang language and Thai language in preposition is the place of words in the sentences. Preposition of Zhuang language and the prepositional phrase made up of by quoted part usually locate before predicate verb used adverbial modifier. On the contrary, preposition of Thai language is usually after the predicate verb used complement. Zhuang language and Thai language has the same aspects in preposition because they are cognate. Meanwhile, they has the different aspects because they all have contact of languages with other languages and are influenced by others.
