The use and meaning of “genju ” is similar to “anzhao” in modern Chinese preposition, which both can lead the other roles(herein refers to as X) to form the object of preposition, then indicate the action or the basis of conclusion. In this paper, I have investigated the usage of “genju”and “anzhao” based on a corpus, also carried on a systematically research on syntax and semantics respectively. This paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is an introduction, describes the background and significance of this study, the summary of related researches and the source corpus. The second chapter is mainly about the comparison of syntactic function of the preposition phrase led by “genju” and “anzhao”. Although both are represented in something as a basis, but there are still specific semantic nuances. “Genju”is more independent and has strong dynamic meaning, but “anzhao”follows with some mechanical meaning. This chapter will use the three prepositional phrase that is “basis- action behavior”, “foundation- the conclusion”, and “basis- explains” to further clarify the semantic differences between the two. Since the semantic differences between the two prepositions, a specific choice of the two prepositions will be different. The third chapter is primarily compare the X constitution in“genju” and “anzhao”. Judging from the nature in general, the X in“genju X” and “anzhao X ” is either a nominal components, it can be a predicate component also, but the specific nature of the still subtle differences. The fourth chapter investigates the X semantic types in the two prepositional phrase from the perspective of semantic features. Most cases may coincide, but some semantic types only apply to “genju” and vice versa. The fifth chapter is an investigation about syntactic features of two types of prepositional phrases. Consistent with the general prepositional phrases, the two prepositional phrases are often in a sentence adverbial(including adverbial sentence and a sentence adverbial). In addition, we think, “genju” can also act as attributive and a source of information parenthesis class. The sixth chapter is a study on the choice of verb on “genju X” and “anzhao X”. In general, “genju X” and “anzhao X” do not modify the psychological mood of verbs mental verbs subcategories and verbs which can indicate a relationship. And from the the perspective that whether action is autonomous behavior issue, “genju X” can only be modified by the independent verb, but “anzhao X” an be modified to customize both the verb, and can be modified to involuntary verbs.
