The Study On The Relationship Of Yuan Mei And Poems Of Tang And Song Dynasties

As two peaks of our poetical history, Poems of Tang and Song dynasties provide obvious impact on the subsequent poets. On the one hand, Poems of Tang and Song dynasties provide the subsequent poets with the best examples of successful poems. In history, Every excellent poet was good at learning from the fine tradition , and so was Yuan Mei. On the other hand, the brilliance of Poems of Tang and Song dynasties make situations unfavorable for subsequent poets because there are already so many good pieces and fixed poet-writing regularities. Before we can write poem freely ,We must get rid of the chains of tradition. This is the question we must resolve. This thesis makes Yuan Mei the example of an successful learner , studying on the relationship between him and Poems of Tang and Song dynasties, trying to find out his successful learning experiences, with a hope of helping Old-style Poets nowadays.This thesis consists of 3 parts: the preface , the 4-chapter main-body and the conclusion . Chapter 1 analyses the inheritance and innovation of Yuan Mei's conception of poem compared with the tradition of Tang and Song and the attitude of Yuan Mei towards Poems of Tang and Song. Chapter 2 searches for the resource of Yuan Mei's poems from Tang and Song , introducing some methods of his studying poems of Tang and Song. Chapter 3 selects Bai Juyi, Du Mu and Yang Wanli to study Yuan Mei's inheritance and innovation through the comparison of their poems. Chapter 4 analyzes the new features of Yuan Mei's poems. The conclusion concludes Yuan Mei's successful and unsuccessful experience of studying , and give some advise to old-style poets nowadays from Yuan Mei's hint.
