Research On The City Development In Gansu, Ningxia And Qinghai Region

City is center where a region's politics, economy and culture lie in .It is a nation or an ethnic group's crystallization of material and spirit of at different times. Lenin once said, "City is not only the center of economy, politics and people's spirit but also the main driving force to social progress." The recent history Ningxia and Qinghai were running in the scope of Gansu before 1929, so in this paper I will treat Gansu, Ningxia and Qinghai as a whole region to discuss. Based on other people's researching results, this paper systematically discussed evolution, development, characteristics and factors affecting their development (including the positive factors and negative factors) of modern cities in Gansu, Ningxia and Qinghai region. Meanwhile this paper also audio-visually displayed the development process of modern cities in Gansu, Ningxia and Qinghai region, and highlighted their characteristics during development process by analyzing and comparing same and differences among central cities and regional central cities and town in Gansu, Ningxia and Qinghai region.This paper plans to use four chapters to conduct a study on the developing situation of modern cities in Gansu, Ningxia and Qinghai. The first chapter simply introduces the geography overview of Gansu, Ningxia and Qinghai region and its cities'history, so that readers can have a broad understanding to the formation and developing situation of cities in Gansu, Ningxia and Qinghai region in ancient times. Other three chapters mainly divides modern period into three times to discuss. The second chapter mainly focuses on the development of cities in Gansu, Ningxia and Qinghai region in late Qing Dynasty. The third chapter chiefly tells us the situation of city development and its restricting factors in Gansu, Ningxia and Qinghai region during the reign of Northern Warlords and KMT(Kuomintang)Government. The forth chapter mainly analyses's cities'prosperous scene and their reasons during Anti-Japanese War, at the same time outlines the depression picture of cities in this region after getting victory to Anti-Japanese War and what caused this situation. Based on the detailed description of modern cities'developing situation in Gansu, Ningxia and Qinghai region, this paper vividly reproduces the developing process and characteristics of cities in Gansu, Ningxia and Qinghai region, so that we can better draw lessons from it. By general understanding modern city's development, we can get some useful experiences for future developing and building north-western part of China.
