In the heyday of Tang Dynasty, it was spectacular that its all-embracing atmosphere covered nearly every corner of the society, including culture of female cosmetics and ornament. The researches on feminies of Tang Dynasty, from their internalitiy to semblance, were frequently seen on some monographs and papers. Some of them were intelligent and insightful. However, it remained a pity that these studies in academic circle mainly lingered over feminine attires, as for complex connotations of facial cosmetics, hairdo, hair ornaments were still lack of in-depth exposition and discussion. In fact, female cosmetics and ornaments of Tang inherited all antecessor's fruits, not only in its contents and techniques but also in materials they adopted ,thus these fruits are being put further development now. In addition, it has also formed a unique charateristic and has enjoyed a long lasting reputation thousands of years in cosmetics and ornament histroy. Discussing values of female cosmetics and ornament of Tang, we intend not just to resurge the original visage of Tang's colorful life, which tries to find out techniques of human make up from the angle of the Intangible Culture Heritage. But more importantly, through such discussion it is possible for us to discover the value orientations and aethestic standards of patriarchal society or feminies themselve, thus enable us to fully understand the social culture of that time.This paper will mainly discuss from five aspects, namely Barycenter of Female Facial Cosmetics and ornament of Tang, Basis of Female Facial Cosmetics and ornament of Tang, Hair and Ornaments in Female Cosmetics and ornament of Tang, Cultural Connotation of Female Cosmetics and ornament of Tang, Influence of Female Cosmetics and ornament of Tang. These five aspects are interrelated, have cumulative progression and finally form a integral understanding. In the first Chapter, the paper will focus on introduction to the make-up of eyebrow and lip, the barycenter of facial make-up, explain "why" and discuss make-up technique, materials and effects. The second chapter will introduce some other aspects of facial cosmetics, includingAmong them, some is the essential basis of facial make-up, some are details, functioned as addition to beauty. It is discussed specifically in this chapter about effects, technique and materials of these make-ups. Chapter three presents two parts respectively, hair and ornaments, which covers hairpin, Chai, comb, head-pinned flowers, chignon and so on. Besides the way how to comb hair and wear ornaments, the paper reveals admirers' aesthetic attitudes towards these hairdo and ornaments, such as literators' and artists'. The fourth chapter will emphaze cultural connotation of femal cosmetics discussed the influence over female cosmetics and ornaments from the angle of masculine authority aesthetic view in that society and the reflection of feminine psychological factor itsself. Simultaneously, some aesthetic appreciations and ways to make up from national minoriries did have influence on feminies of Tang. In the fifth chapter, the paper finally probes into the influences of female cosmetics and ornaments of Tang Dynasty at that time and even the influences which have been affecting the later generations. On the one hand, it refers to the impacts upon minorities; on the other hand, it is also having influence on the culture of female cosmetics and ornaments afterwards. Through this part, the article reveals the value of Tang's culture and how essential for us to inherit, protect and utilize it.To sum up, the paper elaborates the cultural phenomenon of female cosmetics and ornaments of Tang Dynasty. Moreover, based on that, it also analyzes the connotation and denotation of cosmetics culture. For its connotation, the writer points out significant influence of historical background and masculine aesthetic standards, reveals feminine psychological and aesthetic factors that affect the cosmetics. As for denotation, the writer analyzes the diversity and uniqueness of feminies in Tang Dynasty along the Chinese female cosmetics history. It is closely related to the all-embracing atmosphere and existing national minorities of that time.
