Study On Chinese Redundancy

Redundancy is a prevelant phenomenon in language, also the Chinese. Chinese redundancy existed in all aspects such as words, sentences, and texts,etc.The moderate redundancy can help explain, amuse, eleminate ambiguity, make phatic communication, emphasize, speak euphemism, express converstional implicature, reduce the information, and give disturbance to make the communication succeed and help achieve the goal of communication. Based on the former's research, this paper explain the redundant information in communication using cooperative principle and polite principle in pragmatics and searching extensive language materials, literary and oral, from the angle of systematic ideology of communication and psychology, and analyze the reason about the size of redundat information with the contextal theory in pragmatics. At last, the conclusion is that the moderate redundancy can improve the communication, but what we should pay more attention is to control the degree, and to speak differently according to the different occasion, place and person.
