Information theory concerns information management and information transmission. It was initially applied to communication engineering and Nida applied it into the translation field. Based on dynamic equivalence theory, this paper demonstrates the importance of dealing with redundancy information in order to improve the accuracy and aesthetic level of the translation.According to various differences between English and Chinese on linguistic features and cultural backgrounds, the criticism on the translation of Sydney’s Song presents ways to deal with redundancy information in language levels and culture aspects. The language levels include sentences and words, and the culture aspects are namely proverbs, cultural practices, transportation, geography and units of measurement. Combining with examples from the novel translation, the paper reveals the redundancy imbalance and ways to achieve balance. The methods include amplification, omission, replenishment and changing sentence structure. As a result, the acceptance and aesthetic level of the translation can be improved.
