The Study Of New Media Art

The characteristic of the productivity would affect the characteristic of art in its time; digitization is a time trend that cannot be escaped. As a pioneer of the arts, modern art also took enormous changes; the most spectacular one is the emergence and development of new media art. New media artists use the latest scientific and technological achievements of modern time to create their works. In this field, emerging many advanced, interesting, strange scenes, these works begin to enter into the art museum or gallery, which is affecting our viewing perspective, transforming our visual experience, thus enriching human sensibility. In this paper, in the macro background of the history of the development in the arts, especially the history of modern visual arts and development of media, combining the aesthetic theory and communication theory, particularly post-modern cultural theory, to discuss the features of new media art and the logic of culture.First of all, this article defined the definition of the new media and new media art. New media and new media art are two completely different concepts; there is a totally different concept between new media and new media art. A clear identification between the two concepts will be conducive to analyze the characteristics of new media art, at the same time to get a clear recognize about the great significance of technology innovation for new media art.Secondly, this article made a systematic inquiry about the origin of new media art. New media art obviously reflects the characteristic of combination between art and technology, modern technology background provides a strong support for the new media art, and the many forms of Modern art and Post-modern art provide a concept and practice preparation for the emergence of new media artThirdly, this article made an analysis on the basic characteristics of new media art. The first part is about the diversity of existing way, which mainly elaborated the several existing ways of new media art at present. Say Digital imaging devices, computer art, interactive art, web art, virtual reality and artificial biology art. The second part mainly made an analysis of the characteristics of interactivity and playful in the new media art. In the third part, to show clearly that the "Non-linear narrative art" adopted in the new media art has already evolved into a special idea applied in the creativity of art for the contemporary artist. The forth part analyzed the concept of virtual reality based on the technology of virtual reality.At last, this article made a cultural analysis about the new media art. The first part, as the new media art was born from the post-modern cultural context, it has superficial characteristics of post-modern culture. In the second part, making a dissertation on the relationship between technology and art in the new media art, clarifying that the art should keep on touch with technology advancement, as well as criticism technology. The third part, as a pioneer art, the new media art has a great critiquing awareness, which means great significance for the resisting of homogenization of media culture.
