Study On University Graduates' Personality Traits And Determinants In Baotou, Inner Mongolia

Objective To expwere the personality traits of university graduates in Baotou and relative factors that affect the development and refinement of university students' personality traits. To avoid bad tendency by providing practical evidences for facilitating development of university students' personality.Method Stratified cluster sampling was adopted and 458 graduates were chosen randomly as research objects. Cattell 16PF scale and self-designed questionnaire about personal information of university graduates were used to collecer information and establish the database. SPSS 10.0 was used to conduct statistic analysis.Results 1. There is statistic significance in the differences among those personality factors of university students between Baotou and Jiangsu, stability, emulation, excitability, persistence, sensitivity, fantasy, sophistication, anxiety and excitement, P<0. 05. 2. University graduates in Baotou are grouped by university, sex, the place they came from, economic condition, sleep condition, study achievements, whether is the only child, whether like the major, the degree of associating with family, whether is in love and whether is preparing for postgraduate entrance examination. The differences between scales of each group in some factors of 16PF and subfactors have statistic significance. 3. By multiple linear regression analysis, factors that affect the personality traits of university graduates are ranked by the frequency of being involved in the equation as follows. (1) the degree of associating with family(ll times); (2)sleep condition (7 times) ; (3)sex, economic condition (each 6 times); (4) whethe is preparing for postgraduate entrance examination(4 times); (5)whether is in love, the place they came from(each 3 times); (6)whethe like the major, whether is the only child (each 2 times); (7)study achievements, university (each 1 times).Conclusion The personality traits of university graduates in Baotou are characterized by straightforward, sincere, modest, sense, cantious, practical, conservative and compling with tradition. However, university graduates can show specific and diverse personality traits and personality development tendency in different natural conditions, social background and living environments. Among the 11 factors that affect personality traits, the most important factor is the degree of associating with family; the second is sleep condition; the third are sex and economic condition; the forth are whether is proparing for postgraduate enteance examination, whether is the only child, study achievements and university.Suggestion University education and management institutions should have full recognition of obligation and mission they should undertake in the physical and psychological development of university students. We should pay attention to the role of university students' personality traits in cultivating talents. Importance should be attached to and interfere the factors that affect the development of university students' personality. Develop a pratical project that suits the local condition.
