That comes to be a main branch of book design.Design of book formation means the design of book size, fonts, layout, illustrations, title page, cover and paper, printing, binding and materials art, that is, it's the process from original stuffs into an integrated book. It comes through a long history and showed different book formation and different materials at different historical periods. In particular, the development of materials and technology promoted the development of design of new book form, then many problems comes. Book formation design can not be separated from the material, printing, and binding. Book designers could make every imagination comes true with the popularization of computer technology, laser phototypesetting, powerful software, etc. At the same time, technology innovation and development force the designers constantly trying in order to create new forms of creativity from new technology.It's necessary to have a deep awareness and understanding of the new book design before to discuss the new book form. Design of the new book forms is based on in-depth exploration and innovation of traditional book forms. Design of book formation is a kind of integrated systematic work. The important four parts of book formation design which including layout design, cover design, illustration and uses of materials, the research focused on the first three parts. Specifically, the layout design includes design of title page, catalogue, text, notes, and copyright page. It is an important part of book design.Cover design includes design of the jacket, cover of suit and liner. It is to spread and protect as exterior formation design. There are some similarities between forms of e-books and forms of traditional books, such as good dissemination and visual expression are necessary and they both are required to follow the basic principles of layout design. Also, there is much difference, compared with traditional books, multimedia elements in the e-book layout dramatic increase in applications, which have greatly enriched the expression of layout. In addition, e-books also highlighted the advantages of their own at carrier, storage and technical level.
