Wuxi Huishan clay figurines, well-known for its unique artistic style, vivid folk colors of Jiangnan and full-bodied flavor of rural life, plays an important role in arts &crafts history of China. Clothes colors of Huishan clay figurines is the epitome of the folk culture of Jiangnan as well as the artistic wisdom of the folk artisans in their long history of artistic creation, and embody the peculiar outlook and meanings of the dressing culture in a peculiar medium.Base on practical investigation into Wuxi museum and Huishan clay dolls Street, the author collects a mass of essential information by taking pictures and face-to-face communication with folk artisans, and an all-round and systematic induction and collation of Huishan clay figurines have been carried out in several months, in which the words are combined with the pictures very well. Furthermore, a longitudinal study of clothes colors about Huishan clay figurines in the periods of early stage——during Late Ming to Early Qing dynasty, Late Qing dynasty and after the foundation of the PRC, which are well-preserved in Wuxi museum, shows that the clothes colors of Huishan clay figurines has its high-definition features of color application in different periods.The mining research of the clothes colors of Huishan clay figurines shows that it has not only connotations of themselves but also profound internal spirit, as well as unique regional culture. The analysis approach on the clothes colors of Huishan clay figurines in early stage is of vital importance to deeply studying and promoting about the Chinese traditional dressing culture. Meanwhile, the studies is propitious for us to understand the local clothes colors'culture of Wuxi.
