Western color theories have been the main subject of modern colors for the Chinese to study. From import to the localization, it is a long way. From the perspective of arts creation, the process of the development of art has always been a personal and random action of an artist. From the perspective of painting itself, arts creation cannot depend on scientific calculations. Therefore,there is room for research on colors and paintings. The Chinese traditional painting has a profound basis. In the new era, it is indispensible to search for a way suiting color perception for people's modern life and aesthetic needs. It is also necessary to discover the rule about arts creation of Chinese traditional color, to find a relatively appropriate approach between Chinese traditional color and Western traditional color. This paper is mainly to discuss the new move of the development of color painting through the study on Chinese traditional coloring, and thus upgrade the concept of color. The huge changes in society have brought tremendous effect on people's thoughts, while new concepts certainly will call for new forms of arts presentation. The Chinese traditional color will change and has its new contents. Modern Chinese painters have paid great attention and thoughts to the design methods and color perception of Western paintings whose practice and theory provide its own answers on whether to inherit or abandon traditional color painting and designing searching for new forms of presentation. Modern color theory will definitely stimulate Chinese painters try new forms. This paper is dedicated to analyze the practice of color on modern Chinese painting through the author's study of painting and practice.
