Face, where the most important organs on human bodies are concentrated, is the personalized mark for human beings in social communication. Facial plastic art, based on face, has its own aesthetic value and cultural connotation. Specifically speaking, it includes various masks, make-ups, portrait cartoons, network make-ups that are popular on network platform, as well as some synthetic facial arts in artistic designs. In addition, as a kind of special symbols, Facial plastic art has been enriching people's social and cultural life.This thesis, by tracing the historical origin of facial plastic art, researches its development state from the perspective of the symbol to convey information and its aesthetic features with Chinese characteristics. As a modern poster art and graphic resources, the facial plastic art has influential imagination and important value. It summarizes the semiotic features and form language of facial plastic art so that it goes further to clarify the approach to conveying function. It combines every component element of modern poster designs and analyzes the facial plastic which is applied into poster designs from the perspective of Modelings, Artistics, aesthetics, folkloristics, semiotics, visual linguistics, ethics and art in design。We can come to a conclusion that facial plastic art has been a semiotic artistic form of conveying information since primitive societies. It has become a special kind of national traits with long history. As a part of folk art, facial plastic art not only enriches imagination and resources of poster design, but also provides a new way for designers to explore the traditional cultural connotation and highlight the national traits in the increasing internationalization of designing waves.
