Since 1990's, DV has become the important tool to express daily life of the commons. It has broken the traditional rule that the right of making video is only seized in the minority's hand. The emergence of DV has brought a new culture phenomenon and opened the prelude of personal video dissemination.This paper mainly focused on the comparison and analysis between the current status and value of DV, including its history, background, foreground, characters, problems and what is the better way for the development of DV image.First of all, the analysis for DV image was undertaken based on the DV history. Then the reason why DV developed so fast was discussed from the points, such as the user's background and the DV technology. The current situation of DV was discussed from its characters and propagation routes. During the ten years' development, DV image have gotten tremendous advancement in both technology and art aspects. Some mistaken ideas were also discussed from the aspects such as object selection, skill and aesthetics.The value of DV image is another emphasis of this paper. The analysis was concentrated on Image value, the value of public opinion, cultural values, aesthetic values. These values were acknowledged from the aspects of art theory and media theory. Actually, these four values are united. The essentiality of them is consonant with the main value of social life which is based on the main value system of the real life.In the end, the direction of DV image development was discussed, which is a trade-off between the personalized video products and the popular media. It will give DV image the maximum space for its development.
