The quasifixed structure"XqianXhou"which has plentiful meanings and flexible utilization is abounded in the contemporary Chinese language. And so far, there isn't any systematic and in-depth inspection about the item in the academic circles. This article will make a systematic inspection of the grammatical meaning and syntax features of the format of"XqianXhou". Through the detailed description of the synchronic Analysis, such as X which suits for the format, the structural features of the format, the relationship between X1 and X2, the meaning of"qian and hou"which constraints the format of"XqianXhou", and it will make a multi-angle analysis of the format of"XqianXhou". And then try to explain the phenomenon concerned of this format with a grammaticalization approach. I hope the research will play an active role in the promotion of foreign language vocabulary teaching. The article is divided into four main parts just as follows:Incipit: the chapter introduced the significance of this study, the present research situation, the theory, approach, research materials and etc.Chapter1: this paper inspected the structural features of"NqianNhou", the relationship between N1 and N2, and the selective restriction to N. Then generalized the meaning and syntactic function according to the different collocation of"qian,hou"with N.Chapter2: this chapter inspected the structural features of the format of"VqianV hou"in detail, the relationship between V1 and V2, the selective restriction to V. Then generalized the meaning of the structure and syntactic function by analyzing the conditions between"qian,hou"and V.Chapert3: the paper mainly inspected the structural features and syntactic function of"NqianNhou""VqianVhou"and other"XqianXhou", summarized the commonness and differences.Chapter4: this part introduced the process of formation and development of"XqianXhou", made a detailed description with diachronic approach. Chapter5: this part applied Conceptual Blending of the cognitive linguistics to the integration of"XqianXhou"format, which were divided into four levels, low blends degree, second low blends degree, intermediat blends degree and high blends degree.
