Alienation is a negative emotion, which including uncontrollable feeling, helpless feeling etc. Because of alienation from other people, society, nature and other relationships, an individual will realize a sense of distance and be estranged from each other, which will cause alienation. There's no relevant research focusing on the students from Secondary Specialized Schools. This thesis starts with a relatively detailed description about research of alienation both at home and abroad, including the concepts, constructs, measuring tools, important theories and studies, etc.On that basis, the research is done by the Questionnaire of Alienation for Adolesc -ent, on a sample of 689 new students (472 boys and 403 girls) ranging in Secondary Specialized Schools selected from four schools in Shanghai. Results from this study showed:1,These new students have the highest score in the alienation of environment, the alienation of society is second, and the alienation between persons is the third. 2,With the analysis of multiple variance, There are main effects (different schools) and interaction(One child and hometown, hometown and school, school and gender) in new students from Secondary Specialized Schools in Alienation and its dimensions. 3,Interpersonal relationship, self- recognition and Self-development, environmental adjustment are main factors to induce alienation of new students from Secondary Specialized Schools. On the basis of the literature, investigation and conversation, a set of group activity plans were designed to reduce the level of alienation. 25 new students from Secondary Specialized Schools had been selected, randomly divided into the experimental group and control group. The design of ante-post, experimental-control group had been conducted. Subjects of the experimental group received eight consistent group interventions, 90 minutes once a week;while control group received no intervention. The result showed that the intervention has greatly decreased the alienation of the members of the experimental group, and even lower after three months (p<.01), however, there was no change in control group. The effective factors of intervention were:1,a reasonable and targeted intervention;2,cognitive adjustment and emotional catharsis;3,group members centered and their potential power was tapped.
