This thesis arranged the situation and key points of the latest theories of the researches on the Zi-based Theory in Chinese grammar, analyzed the disagreements on the division of Chinese linguistic units proposed by the experts of Zi-based Theory, and then put forward our immature views. The key point of Zi-based Theory include three aspects:1.Zi is a basic structural unit of Chinese. Syllables and Chinese characters are just different expressions of the Zi for it is a logical concept of a high degree of abstraction. Zi is neither the text font, nor "Zi"character or non-literal meanings. Zi is a Chinese basic unit i.e. a syllable, which can represent a significance in spoken Chinese and can be written by an independent body in written Chinese.2.Chinese is a semantic-based language, sentenced by semantic generation. Zi is a basic structural unit of Chinese. Language units at all levels above Zis are generated by it from small to large, only consensual, there is no deformation. Chinese semantic syntax generation can be divided into two parts which are basic generating system and sentence generating system. Basic construct is on what the units between the zis to the sentences are generated by zis, which includes deep zis family law system and surface zis associated law department in conjunction. The units following the sentence how to arrange in a sentence is sentence built. Chinese open syntactic structures showing a specific arrangement of word order rules.3.The structural framework of Chinese is "topic-comment".The core of it is order rules which based on the order of thinking and in tune with the natural thinking. In studying the disagreement of the division of the language unit of Zi-based theory, we mainly researched the views of four experts who are Xu Tong-qiang, Wang Ping, Pan Wen-guo and Lu Bi-song. The Conclusion is that four experts without exception find that the zi is the basic structural unit of Chinese with a full demonstration from a different perspective, but with obvious difference on the division of the language unit between zi and sentence. Xu Tong-qiang divided them into diction, block and comma,Wang Ping divided them into diction and commas but with different connotations with Xu. Though Pan and Lu divided them into one part but Pan adopted the concept of diction and Lii still word. In addition, though the top three experts have adopted the concept of "diction", but with different content. Xu Tong-qiang points that the diction is just a combination of zi, which is specifically used to refer to the zi groups, especially those who solidified a strong group of regular characters. Diction used by Wang Ping was on the determination of full voice as the standard, which is a transfer unit in the language stream and mainly composed of two zis, nearly no longer than five-zis. Pan Wen-guo hold that diction is a unit between zi and sentence. We draw conclusions by integrating the views of each expert and compared them with the analysis of strong Chinese facts as the following:1.Point of view in agreement:Morpheme is not a Chinese language unit,Zi is one of the units of Chinese language.2.Our views:(1)believe that word should be one of a unit in Chinese, but its positions and implications are different from the Indo-European languages. The word in Chinese is a zi-group which is between the unit of zi and sentence and at least composed of two zis to express a complete idea in general.(2)We believe that the unit between zi and sentence should not be characterized as "diction" or "word",it is better to be referred to as "zi-group".Because in this way it is not only more in line with Chinese native naming convention which directly uses relevant combination of zis to express the new concept, but also correspond to the concept of "phrase" in the Indo-European languages, to reflect the common theoretical research in different languages. And based on the researches which have been studied above we recommend a new division framework of the Chinese language units.
