There have a large number of inscriptions of communication throughout the Gansu Province, which mainly recorded at the major phenomena of communications in various parts of Gansu. Since last long, and destructed by factors such as natural and man-made, inscriptions scattered and lost and damaged very seriously. But so far, there are still a considerable number of inscriptions have been preserved, especially in the Qing Dynasty. To identify the formation of their geographical distribution and characteristics, can further enhance their collection, collation and protection, help to understand and master the main changes and the law of Communication in Gansu in the Qing Dynasty.The Inscriptions of Communication in Gansu in the Qing Dynasty stand mainly along the post road, and concentrate on the important pass and ferry crossing, with obvious regional characteristics. According to the geographical distribution on the Inscriptions of Communication in Gansu, the traffic and administrative situation in the Qing Dynasty, and the natural and geographical divisions of Gansu Province and other factors, they are divided into four districts in this paper:Official Road area of Lanzhou, Shaanxi-Gansu-Sichuan post road area, South Gansu area without post road and Hexi post road area, and further analyzed the causes of their distribution patterns.Meanwhile, as a considerable number, rich in content, they can not only expand the source of historical data of Communication history in the Qing Dynasty, make up for the shortage of local chronicles and other historical documents, but also their combination was restored to some extent the transport network in Gansu, in addition to they also have the value of historical data which can't be ignored.
