Courtesy is a code of ethics which every citizen in the society should observe. Manners/courtesy is not only a scope of research in ethical studies but also an area of research in social linguistics and pragmatics. From the Chinese language and Arabic language point of view, the comparative analysis of euphemism in both languages is still seldom done therefore there is relatively more room for carrying out the analysis or research in this area. The research topic is "Comparative analysis of euphemism in Chinese language and Arabic language "。This paper attempts, from the use of Chinese language and Arabic language point of view, to express the similarities between Chinese language and Arabic language, highlight the differences and investigate how culture has impacted on the usage of the two languages. It also attempts to explain the usage of euphemism as laid out by the principles of western scholars. This paper targets Arabic students studying Chinese language and explores how it is sometimes difficult for them to put euphemism into proper usage. It's my hope that this paper will be of help to Chinese students studying Arabic and to Arab students studying Chinese when it comes to the aspect of euphemism and use of polite language. I hope it enables them to master some rules of euphemism.
