The Historical And Characteristical Research Of Urban Construction In Anking City Around 1930s'

The pioneer of Anking modernization is important in modern China. For a long time, it has drawn numerous historical scholars' attention by its revolutionary significance of Chinese modernization. This article threw off the old models such as the protective war in the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom in Anking or the recent preliminary defense involved, and not farfetched the relationship of the Ordnance in Anking and the modernization in this city, but based on the modernization itself to discuss the historical-cultural characteristics in Anking city during 1930s'. Repositioning the history of Anking city could take a new view at the inner link with modern history in China.The first part of the article methodizes Anking city's history briefly. It explains the Anking city's the site selection, development and historical position from the location and the historical choice, the chaotic politics in the early Republic of China and the changes of Anhui province or Anking's political departments and gets a context in Anking city development. It also corrects many mistakes of preliminary studies by some scholars. The Anking city has covered by ancient PengLi Lake long ago; it has developed since Song and it is a political center of achievement with its important military status. But emerging political center is not solid in the period of the republic of Anhui political disorder and frequently changed in Anking authority.The second part discusses the urban construction in Anking during 1930s.at first, the paper lists general military situation of Anking before. Then it discusses the urban construction from the views of municipal construction, electrification and external relations, involved in urban areas and extension, living environment, urban roads, water and fire, Light, telephone, Automotive road construction, automobile transportation, other connection, etc. Municipal construction, light and automotive road construction are the research focus in these areas to get the construction condition of Anking city. The third part explores the reasons of behinding the level. It thinks that built by military in Anking city are restricted by the Political changes condition, its urban development, the traditional city block, low degree construction and loss of the opportunity to set port, etc. Affected by these factors during 1930s, the construction starting point is lower and the construction has the following features:Specialized talents were in construction with western achievements, caught in financial embarrassments and frugal construction, political service came below people's livelihood. Thought it has publication during some periodical, it has developed slower than other cities. The road traffic improvement has not formed transportation hub and the railway construction has serious deficiencies, etc.Because of the natural flaws of Anking city in a boom period of transformation since the 1920s, its military and political superiority had become the new development limitation in modern China of cities building and the most prominent is the lack of modern convenient transportation. It made Anking city loss the political center position when the Japanese invading it in 1938. The political, military and cultural cohesion were unviable to continue, so the ideal modes of rural development such as traditional and modern urban together and the city leads partition are difficult to achieve.
