As an Arab student in the process of learning the Chinese language, I have found that Arab students have a strong tendency make certain grammatical errors. Particularly within the area of using Chinese personal pronouns, these errors are consistently committed, a detail that led me to become interested in further research. The present documented data analysis on Chinese grammar errors is predominantly concentrated on students from Europe and the United States as well as Asian students, including those from Japan,Korea,Vietnam and Thailand, while Arab students errors are being ignored. Person pronouns are one of most important parts of speech, as valuable as quantifiers, adverbs or prepositions, but the numbers of studies that have been conducted are relatively few and lack of detailed description. Therefore, my research is based largely on the results of a survey collected from Arab students currently studying the Chinese language and designed to determine the most common errors committed by this particular group, the causes of these errors. By properly determining the type of errors most commonly made and the causes of these errors, effort could then be made to find solutions to those common mistakes. It is my hope to be able to help Arab students pursue learning the Chinese language more successfully. In the first chapter of my thesis, I will discuss the historical development process of Chinese personal pronouns, as I believe that Arab students need to have an adequate understanding of the personal pronoun background.I use the second chapter to explain and describe the grammatical system of modern Chinese personal pronouns. Using simplified language, uncomplicated examples that best demonstrate the most significant difference between Chinese and Arabic grammar. This is to help Arab students improve their understanding and to better grasp the personal pronoun system. In Chapterâ…¢,â… focus on the causes of errors, error types and the methods to avoid the errors recommended by linguists, which have been obtained through Contrastive Analysis, Error Analysis and Inter-language theory to compare to Arab students errors. Following this, I will then develop my own opinion.Chapterâ…£looks at the data collected by my survey and I analyze the patterns of personal pronouns errors. I use three different methods to analyze the errors. First, from the phrase point of view:analysis of the phrase terms, plus error, misuse, omission error. Second, from the grammatical used of terms:Functional Errors, Semantic Errors, fixed structure of Error. And third, analysis based on the rate of errors. From these three aspects I will briefly summarize the error type on horizontal and vertical statistical, analyzing and classifying the result with approach of relevant analysis. Applying Inter-language and error analysis theories to explain that the incorrect language transfer, I can deduce that students attempt to translate from their mother language to the target language has a major negative impact, but this is not the only reason. There is also factors related to the learners themselves, teaching materials, methods of learning, their environment and cultural influences.Additionally, there are also psychological and personal factors, such as: motivation, age. gender, sex, attitude, character. Chinese level and religion, also have a great impact, the use of relevant test results, description of statistical methods to analyze these data trying to find solutions to help Arab students be able to learn Chinese language more successfully. Finally, on this basis, I am able to produce some suggestions to assist with the teaching of Chinese grammar. I hope this research is able to provide some help to reduce bias, allow for better teaching of all students, regardless of their native tongue. This may assist with bettering the relationship and understanding between China and Arab speaking nations. Increased Arab students'understand of the Chinese language, will further increase their understanding of Chinese culture, and potentially deepen mutual understanding.
