Wu Xinghua is a"desolated literary muse"in Chinese literary history, he is learned, proficient in ancient and modern, skillful in Chinese and foreign, and he has made remarkable achievements in the area of poetry, academic studies and translation. He devoted his whole life to the construction and development of the new poetry, with taste and experiments in varied aspects. The thesis was divided into four parts to probe into his poet's theory and writing. In the first part analysis was put on his poetry theory, and the orientation was to point out his poetry ideal's essential content and significance combined with the development of the new poetry. The second part analyzes the spirit of his poetry. His poetry was a kind of revolt to the popular lyric and the free style, and the emphasis was put on the depth and the feeling of the poetry which made it deep in his poetry expression. Through the description of perishable life and the anxiety of the ideal, his poetry also expressed the idea of the lost of the spirit. The third part analyzes his objective lyrical tactics, and finally accomplished poetry'objective and indirect mainly through the creation of imagery and dramatic expression, and in this way emotion was effectively merged with ration. The fourth part analyzes his exploration in the poetry form, he stressed that we should study from both East and West, and in this process he created the new style of poetry of verses and quatrains , the Sonnet, the Lamentations body ,verse forms and other forms of poetry, which made great significance to the development of Chinese new poetry.
