Position preposition is a small category of preposition which classified by its semantic function. Position preposition has a special status in the system of preposition in Chinese. Though the current academic research on preposition has achieved certain achievements, we can easily be aware that there are still some blanks and deficiencies in the study of position preposition. I selected 17 position prepositions in my thesis, My main task is to assess and survey the usages of these position prepositions in modern times Chinese. Through my concrete description, and do comparison of certain special books in which the prepositions'general picture are described, systematically investigated and compared.There are five chapters in my thesis. The first chapter is to investigate position preposition as a whole, including the research results of previous studies, these article language materials'origination, Assessed objects, research methods, and division standards and so on. In the second chapter I mainly inspected the Chinese position preposition according to the grammatical function of preposition, the positions of prepositions, to present the specific use in different times, especially from Tang Dynasty to Modern times. In the third chapter I mainly selected several different literatures of different time to carry on the special book comparison, compared with modern times Chinese and modern Chinese position preposition system's differences on the number of prepositions, their location, usage frequency and so on. In the fourth chapter I analyzed the factors which have influence on selecting the preposition and preposition. The last part is a conclusion for my entire thesis.
