There were many reserches on Ruan Yuan, which always focused on his thought, academism, and cultural activities, but rarely on his potery.Based on the existing achievements about Ruan Yuan, the author tries to make a breakthrough by focusing on Ruan Yuan as a poet. The contribution and creative features of RuanYuan's potery are reflected in following ways:Ruan Yuan was illustrious and influential when he was young, in his life, he made acquanitance with so many dignitaries and outstanding scholars. By virtue of the marriage relationship of his family, the literature creation between Ruan's family and others flourished. The womenfolk of Ruan's family were honorable, with the literary atmosphere in the family and Ruan Yuan's encouragement, their poems become more and more prosperous.Ruan Yuan advocated education and attached importance to academic, and there were many literary talents around him. In his leisure he would hold many literati's parties, reciting poems and discussing academic with his friends. Ruan Yuan always cherished the talents, each place of his policy supervision and learning supervision, he tried his best to appreciate and encourage poor students who had talent. He always taught and tested students with poetry, greatly enriching its quantity.Ruan Yuan studied the Six Classic in his childhood and he specialised on it. The spirit of Confucius influenced him deeply, so his poetry were profound. Because of his government affairs, he visited nearly half China, so his poetry were mostly about the landscape and plants, his potery bourn was simple, plain and emotional. Ruan Yuan was celebrated as scholar, whose poetry was characterised by knowledgeability. He enchased the knowledge in his poetry, which made his poetry rational and euphemistic.
