Study On The Norns In Sunzi Bingfa

This paper Studies the nouns in Sunzi Bingfa, according to Mr. Wang Ning's theories of Chinese vocabulary occurrence and accumulation of phase, combined with traditional exegetical methods, such as glyph explanation, pronunciation explanation, semantic interpretation etc. Then use computer to count these data, in order to study the nouns in Sunzi Bingfa more deeply. This paper summarizes the current vocabulary researching situation of Sunzi Bingfa, gives the definitions and the general descriptions of the nouns appearing in Sunzi Bingfa. This paper also builds the classification systems of the nouns'meaning in Sunzi Bingfa, explores the original meaning of some monosyllabic nouns, Researches the difficult and complex syllable nouns and finally gives some relevant conclusions.This paper is divided into four parts:The first part, Introduction: The main overview of the book Sunzi Bingfa, including the brief introduction of SunZi's life, the version of Sunzi Bingfa, the annotator of Sunzi Bingfa and the vocabulary researching situation of Sunzi Bingfa, then proposing research theories, methods, significance and materials about this study.The second part, Main body: There are four chapters, the first chapter focuses on the denounsination and overview of the nouns in Sunzi Bingfa. First, analyzing words, vocabularies, phrases, the meaningful locations of vocabularies and the denounsination of the nouns. Second, establishing a database of Sunzi Bingfa and generating a table of monosyllabic words and polysyllabic words of Sunzi Bingfa. The second chapter mainly focuses on the classifications of the nouns'meanings in Sunzi Bingfa. The nouns of Sunzi Bingfa are classified into two divisions: natural aspect and anthropic aspects. The natural aspect includes five categories, astronomy, geography, plants, animals and others. The anthropic aspects including livelihood, human senses, orientation premises, the name of that person, politics, military, verbal expression, cultural books and abstract concepts etc. Then by using the statistical methods, the classifications of the nouns'meanings in Sunzi Bingfa are analyzed. The third chapter is mainly focusing on the etymological meaning of monosyllabic nouns in Sunzi Bingfa. Referring the order of the rhyme in the body text of Homology Dictionary edited by Wang Li, and according to 31 sound-symbol associations 142 words, analysising the Pronunciation and meaning of the nouns in Sunzi Bingfa. what's more, 55 pairs of cognates have been summarized. The 24 difficult and complex syllable nouns of Sunzi Bingfa chosen in chapter four mainly focuses on the following three aspects. First, The word's significance of being used in Sunzi Bingfa; Second, the original meaning of the participated morphemes and its constituting meaning; Third, the means of the constitution of this word. Based on the original meaning of the participated morphemes and its constituting meaning, combining with its previous comments given by predecessors, the author gives his own comments on these difficult and polysyllabic nouns in terms of chinese philology and exegesis.The third part: Conclusion, giving the conclusions on four aspects, including the values of researching nouns, the systematic construction of the nouns'semantic meaning, the original meaning of the monosyllabic nouns and the analysis of polysyllabic nouns.The fourth part, including the database and other related materials of Sunzi Bingfa.In this paper, there are several breakthroughs:First, the establishment of a database. The numbers, the forms, the frequency of using Chinese characters are accurately calculated, the word index and the row-unit text are formed, and all these preparation works gives the solid foundation for the exhaustive research on the nouns appearing in Sunzi Bingfa.Second, the researching methods are improved. When exploring the original meaning of the monosyllabic nouns, instead of choosing the pairs-model held in traditional pronunciation explanation, the author analyzing its meaning by putting it into the words groups which have the same sound. When it comes to finding the original meaning of the words, some methods are comprehensively used, like finding the meanings of nouns by analyzing their structures and the sound, what's more, comparison and other explanation methods are also used. When it comes to examining the polyphonic nouns, the significance of their usages and the ways of their construction are furthere proved by thoroughly analyzing the original meanings of the participated morphemes and its constituting meanings. These are complements to predecessors'views.Finally, some relevant conclusions are made by the author. When it comes to exploring the original meaning of the monosyllabic nouns in Sunzi Bingfa, according to 31 sound-symbol associations 142 words and summarized 55 pairs of cognates. Four points are found: First, there are multi-links between sound-symbols and semantic meanings, that's to say, one sound-symbol can have many different semantic meanings; Second, among many semantic meanings of sound-symbol, there are many complex meanings related together, like its original meaning, extended meaning, metaphorical meanings and so on; Third, as for the relationship between the construction and the meaning of the sound-symbol, one sound-symbol could have the different characters but with the same meanings; Fourth, the ways like comparison and mutual identification are the effective ways to find the original meanings of the words. When it comes to exploring the complex syllable nouns, it's found that the construction types of the complex syllables are very close to The Book of ShiJing, and from lexicological point of view, the formation time of Sunzi Bingfa is also very close to ShiJing.In this paper, there are several weaknesses:First, the summarization on the meanings classification of the nouns are not conscientious and careful enough. The reference books are very limited in this field, and some basic classifications of difficult nouns are not settled down by different researchers. More importantly, because of the author's limited knowledge, some classifications of nouns should be furthere perfected.Second, because one character has several various meanings, the meaning diversity among the sound-symbol of homologous characters group is relatively complicated, and the evolution process of these relationships is even more complex comparing with the simple meaning that one character holds, and this paper does not give deep analyze in this area.Besides the above limitations, there are many other weaknesses of this paper; the author sincerely hopes that more shortages of this paper can be pointed out by professors.
