The "Weekly Review" founded in Beijing on December 22,1918 was propaganda current affairs political weekly during May 4th Movement in China. At the beginning, Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao were editors from 26th, because Chen was arrested, the editor was replaced by Li Dazhao and Hu Shi. A month later, the editor was Hu Shi. In addition to the 3 authors, there are Zhou Zuoren and Zhang Shenfu, Luo Jialun, Gao Yihan and so on. 4 pages 4 versions each weekly. There are columns such as "Review of foreign affairs" ,"domestic event in Review" ,"editorial", "Xua", "New Art", "domestic labor conditions," and so on. There are Special Appendixes like "the old and the new trend of public opinion","for Beijing Students of public opinion "and so on. The journal aims to "advocate of justice, against powers," the content of the journal focused on current events, literature creation and literary criticism. The Journal combined the realities of home and abroad, strongly criticized feudal literature thinking and despotism, paied attention to reflect the domestic labor problems, widely reported the proletarian revolutionary movement in Europe and the Soviet Union the situation after the October Revolution. During May 4th Movement, continued to report coverage and support the patriotic student movement. After it was edited by the Hu Shi, political current affairs content was omitted , a large number of works written by Dewey and Russell were published on No. 31 , the Hu delivered an article named "more of these problems, less about some doctrine,", which caused the debate "problem and the doctrine". The journal was banned by the Northern Government on August 30th in 1919. at that time, the journal was 37th ."Weekly Review" is the banner of the New Culture Movement, it had abroad influence at home and abroad. The article put The "Weekly Review" as the entry point, involved the mass media, folk psychology, group psychology and international relations fields, used newspapers, Journalism, mass psychology, and sociology to analyse the relationship between "Weekly Review" and the May 4th Movement. Using different methods of historiography such as quantitative analysis, comparative analysis,to study "Weekly Review" and compared "Weekly Review" and other media such as the influence of the "New Youth", "Morning", "Weekly Review" upon May 4th Movement. We can glimps the process of May 4th New Culture intellectuals from "cooperation" to" division". This article is divided into eight parts:The first part is I had a general introduction of the "Weekly Review" about Founded background, purpose, authors, mainly columns, operating conditions and the reasons of the discontinued and so on, and revised and Discussed some of the related knowledge of misunderstanding or inaccurate, I had an overall grasp and correct understanding of the basic situation of the newspaper. The second part is the opposition Movement Confucianism of "Weekly Review" View. "Weekly Review" launched a battle against the Confucian ideology, showing May 4th New Culture intellectuals sent the same unity against others.The third part is "Weekly Review" and radical democracy. The article of "New Art", "editorial", "Xua" of "Weekly Review", against the tradition and develop the democracy, so we can see that May Fourth new cultural Political shift and its ideological difference.The fourth part analysis the summary translation of the "Communist Manifesto" by Cheng Shewo and Zhang Weici's the spread of Marxism, and introduce "Weekly Review" on the "problem and doctrine of the debate." This embodies the "Weekly Review" on the spread of Marxism, also shows that May Fourth New Culture division.The fifth part is the "Weekly Review" reported on May Fourth Movement process. May Fourth Movement is the climax of the New Culture Movement, is also the event which "Weekly Review" importantly reported. "Weekly Review" reports of 54 major space campaign, highlighting the "Weekly Review" in the May 4th Movement in the agitation of public opinion, and this reflects the birth of "Weekly Review" from the time and the important status and role of the "Weekly Review" in the May 4th Movement.Part VI of "domestic labor status" column for the perspective of "Weekly Review" on lower labor groups concerned, reflects the communist intellectuals with initial production, marks May 4th New Culture intellectuals broke up finally. Part VII of "Weekly Review" to the situation, and then during the New Culture Movement and Glimpse "radical" mood of the new intellectuals, as well as Hu Shi's new intellectual "radical" and "conservative" attitude.Part VIII states the gains and losses of "Weekly Review"。By analyzing the "Weekly Review" on the New Culture Movement, we reflect on the New Culture Movement.
