Scholars render translation as a dynamic interlingual communication. The occurrence and development of translation is within a "translational ecological system". The translation activity is therefore a selection activity of the translator's adaptation to fit the translational eco-environment. In order to realize the dynamic communication between different languages, the translator should, on the premise of correctly understanding and perceiving the thinking pattern of the original text, manage to produce a natural translation with all of the features that fit to the target text.Texts are the basic units in communication and the essential objects of translation studies. As a way of holding a text together, cohesion has become the basis for understanding a text. Cohesive devices make language concise, information prominent and logic clear. Political news report text, as a sub-variety of the news discourses, is given exceptional priority because the interests and daily life of the public are generally bound up with it. In view of the limitations caused by text composition features, the employment of cohesive devices in English and Chinese political news texts is quite different from that in other texts and the using frequency also varies from language to language. Accordingly, translators usually make adjustments and shifts in cohesive devices for producing a natural target text. That has become one of the major difficulties in the process of English to Chinese translation.Based on Halliday's cohesion theory, with the aid of statistics method, the author carries out a systematical analysis on cohesive devices adopted in English political news texts and their Chinese translation versions. The dynamic translation strategy in the essay is a kind of flexible and sensible strategy of language transaction which is developed on the foundation of theories from Nida and Peter Newmark.
