The Mohist School previled for a time in the Pre-Qin period, and was regarded as"the famous doctrine" along with the Confucian School.During the Han Dynasty, the Mohist School was gradually neglected and disappeared.Athough the relevant research was not totally broken off, there has been lack of systematic study and inadequate understanding on the influence of "Mohist Debate". Starting off with the influence on "Mohist Debate",the"Jing"and"Shuo"in "Mo Jing", the arguments held in"Wei Li Zhi Dao",and the block-printed edition of the Ming Dynasty,I try to do a deep-going research and hopefully to reach a reasonable appraisal.Chapter one discusses the history of "Mohist Debate" and the development from "ten theory"to "Mo Jing". Mo Zi's debate is analysed from three aspects: defining the standard of cognition, establishing a specific way of debate and using diverse methods for debate. Inheriting Mo Zi's thought, Mohist School of later times was developed to some extent in the area of debate and debate theory, and also made important contribution to the development of the debate theory in China. The second and third chapters are more important. Drawing conclusions from both best-known documents and the recently unearthed records, chapter two argues the influence of "Mohist Debate". On the basis of the best-known documents, we analyse the influence of "Jing", "Shuo"and their affect on other scholar's.The recently unearthed records not only reflect the influence of "Wei Li Zhi Dao",but also make a strong supplement to the influence of "Mohist Debate".Chapter three discusses how the thoughts and "Mohist Debate" influenced the block-printed editions in the Ming Dynasty. The block-printing business was successful, innumerable block-printed books appeared, and it played a role in the spreading of the thoughts of the Mohist School. So,we should explore the value of the block-princted edition of "Mo Zi"of the Ming Dynasty, and try to find out why it was printed in large quantities and compare the comments on "Mo Zi" of various editions. By so doing,we can have a better understanding on the influence of "Mo Zi" in the Ming Dynasty.
