The Study On The Building And Application Of Conceptual Design-Oriented Knowledge Framework

Innovation has become to an important factor to judge the product nowadays, while the conceptual design has become the core stage due to its uncertainty,large degree of freedom, and high requirements of creativity. On the other hand, in the context of today's knowledge explosion, the diversification of products, knowledge and experience did a good job to suppor industrial designer for the conceptual design. The research of knowledge-based conceptual design methodology is focused on the engineering design field, and for how to use the knowledge to lead innovation activities on the industrial design field is still not attracted enough attention.Based on the analysis of more than 100 Red Dot Award winning entries and reference of TRIZ innovation theory,we make great efforts to build the Conceptual Design-Oriented Knowledge Framework and study how to use it. The research work are summarized below:(1) Study on the conceptual design process and designers' cognitive behavior in the design activities.The research show that knowledge play an important role in conceptual design process. And further pointed out that the Propertie Knowledge and Method Knowledge combined to assist in the design of knowledge to carry out the conceptual design has a significant role.(2) To classify 120 winning entries of Red Dot Award. Then we extract Propertie Knowledge and Method Knowledge from these products and complet the framework of these two types of knowledge-building. (3) To build the conceptual design knowledge base which has the ability of inspiration. We designed a conceptual product under the guidance of this knowledge base.Finally we develop a experiment whitch confirmed that the library has supportted industrial designers much, and thus demonstrated the building of prior knowledge has a certain rationality.
