Along with the process of economic globalization, political neologisms have been emerging. Chinese political neologisms in particular, attest to China's political, economic, ideological, cultural and social development. Translating political neologisms plays a significant role in improving the interaction among peoples from different nations. How to translate them has become a new political issue of concern. Frankly speaking, some researches done by some scholars in the field are very useful in guiding translating political neologisms, but they are inadequate to regulate translation in political neologisms. Translating political neologisms is still in unsystematic situation. In this case, the writer collected lots of datum on translating political neologisms and consulted many translation theories, and then explores principles of translating them from a perspective of skopos theory. To improve the quality of translating political neologisms, there are three principles, which are accuracy, succinctness and readability, put forward. Accuracy means that accurate comprehension is basis of proper translation. The translator had better particularly emphasize on comprehension of the source text. According to skopos rule, a translator should investigate and analyze the true purpose of the original and the initiator accurately. Succinctness means that political neologisms also feature succinctness, so the translation should be succinct as possible as it can. It agrees with fidelity rule. The translation should be faithful to both content and style of the original. Moreover the translation should not only accurately reflect the most essential thing of the original, but also be easily accepted by readers. It's coherence rule's requirement. In addition, the nature of translation also has determined the function of the translator who should serve as receiver. The three principles are the standards, which determine good or poor quality of translating political neologisms. Purposes of translating political neologisms are to communicate China's voice to the world, to help the world understand a prosperous, democratic, open, peaceful and harmonious China and to make China internationally recognized. To realize them effectively the writer sums up eight methods of translating political neologisms to share with readers according to the three principles above. The eight methods are as follows: interpretative translation, back-translation, literal translation with explanation, annotation, transliteration, literal translation, free translation and omission. A translator can choose some methods accordingly to realize the communicative purpose of conveying faithfully.
