The comparative sentence is an important part of Chinese grammar and it consistently proves to be a difficult aspect of learning Chinese for foreigners. In coming in contact with foreign Chinese speakers, native speakers can easily notice a relatively high error rate when foreigners use the comparative sentence. In order to provide students studying Chinese with the best methodology for mastering the comparative sentence, we attempt to improve the effectiveness and efficiency in this particular area. By observing and collecting data on a significant sample size of foreign Chinese language students, this research attempts to analyze the types and causes of comparative sentence errors with the goal of providing some suggestions to best teach this aspect of Chinese grammar.
