| Since 1978, forced by the rapid industrialization and the development of export-oriented economy , the urbanization process in the Pearl River Area has achieved a span development .But on account of the restrict of different factors , the total urbanization level is still lag behind industrialization. Explosive urbanization in short time also arosed variety of problems such as rough and disharmony. From a long-term point of view, the regional urbanization will still be accelerated, and urbanization / level of the area will continue to be one of the upmost part in the coastal area of China. Due to the important role the urbanization played in the modernization of the area, how to drive the urbanization appropriatly, solve the existed problems arosed from explosive increase ,will be of far- reaching significance to continuous and healthy development of area economy. Based on the aforementioned issue , this paper utilize the theory of urban economy~ regional economy and development economy , try to make a systematic study on the rapid urbanization of the Pearl River Delta Area. There are five parts in this paper: On the basis of summarizing the existing theory and general rule of urbanization , it proceeds with characterizing the process actuality and mode of the urbanization process in Pearl River Delta Area. Then, analyze the influence of two main urbanization drives: industrialization and export- oriented economy. In the third part, it make a comparative study with the urbanization in Yangtz RiverDelta , to educe the existed problems of Pearl River Delta Area urbanization in the forth part. Finally, relevant countermeasure is brought forward from the macroscopic, medium and microcosmic aspects.
